While it’s not uncommon for random women to become Internet sensations, it’s rare for men to get the same attention. However, that’s just what happened to Bobak Ferdowsi, aka “Mohawk Guy.” The flight director on the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity mission launched to fame last night thanks to his amazing hair and good looks.
Ferdowsi’s ‘do, pictured above, features gold stars as well as a healthy smattering of red, gold, and blue dye. Bobak cuts and styles his hair for all big launch events, though last night’s style made him an instant star. Ferdowsi went from 200 to 16,555 Twitter followers in the space of few hours (though the number continues to rise) and is the new poster boy for sexy “nerds."
"NASA Mohawk Guy has stolen my heart," Tweeted a user named katietiedrich.
"NASA flight director Bobak Ferdowsi of the Mars Curiosity mission could totally land his rover in my Mars," said tyleroakley.
As for Ferdowsi, he's been busy with a space mission, of couse, but the flight director did take moment to acknowlege his newfound fame.
“Internet, you win this round,” he Tweeted. “I'll be back later, but thanks so much. Now going to celebrate with all my friends and team!”
