Millions of people travel on the New York City subway system every day, so there’s bound to be a few hunks in the mix. One New Yorker decided to honor these handsome commuters by launching SubwayCrush.net, a site dedicated to New York’s “sexy straphangers” and “hunks of the underground.”
Launched this summer, SubwayCrush has a simple premise - commuters snap a photo of a “subway stunner,” usually without the stunner knowing about it, and then submit the pic to SubwayCrush.net. The site’s administrators will then post the photo to the site, allowing visitors to rank the postings with an up vote or down vote as well as comment on the subject’s sex appeal.
Of course, not everyone is thrilled by the idea of appearing on the hunky commuter website.
"I don't want somebody taking my picture," Jerry Baker, 18, told New York Daily News. "That's rude and immature."
Other men, like Joshua Adjei, 22, find the idea of appearing on SubwayCrush flattering, though he would prefer the photographer be an attractive girl.
"When you take a photo of somebody and catch them off guard they don't look good," he said. "You should let them know so they can make a sexy pose."
Unfortunately for Adjei, SubwayCrush is primarily frequented by gay men. The site is a spinoff of London’s TubeCrush.net.
What do you think of SubwayCrush – harmless fun or creepy voyeurism?
